no I hate myself

Well, this random visit was already off to a good start. The random new brunette on campus had already achieved one of her goals of seeking out the elusive Green Oak. That had resulted in a surprisingly nice visit, actually. But now that it was done, she was left with two more reasons for being here.

1. Locate the even more elusive Red and drag him out of whatever hole he had barricaded himself in.

2. Check this place out!

Blue had done a lot of traveling, but she was pretty sure the rumours of this place being unlike any other would probably end up being true, even if it didn't look too crazy. There was always more than met the eye.

So there was a girl wandering all over campus, sticking her nose into things that didn't quite concern her and looking to chat with anyone willing! Also staring at cows. She was doing a bit of that too.

There was a shell somewhere on campus. Inside that shell, there was a Squirtle, but that really wasn't that important. In his opinion, anyway. Perhaps Blue recognized said shell; although it had certainly obtained a few scuff marks since the last time she had seen the Squirtle it belonged to.

Marie was out-of-the-way. Maybe nestled under a bench in the quad, or wandering one of the darker corners of the massive library. Or perhaps they'd cross paths somewhere else on campus, and Marie wouldn't notice her because, at his level, all he could see were ankles.

Blue had passed by the little shell tucked under a bench a few times. The first time, she thought it looked pretty dang familiar. The second time, she was mostly positive that she knew who that shell belonged to.

The third time was when she stopped and took a seat on the opposite side of the bench he was chilling under. There was a little bit of a creak over head, and then what. What was that appearing in front of where a turtle head might appear from?

A wonderfully fragrant pecha berry, that was what.

Marie was able to tell that someone had taken a seat across from him, but he didn't bother to see who it was at first. The offering of the pecha berry implied it was someone familiar with him and his particular tastes. Automatically he assumed it was Red. A look outside of his shell revealed feminine, definitely-not-Red's ankles.

Greedy turtle arms filled in their openings and reached out for the berry. Hesitantly, Marie drew his nose out. And then, slowly, the rest of his head. With wide eyes, he looked up at Blue.

Blink blink. Hello, Blue.

Blue had assumed correctly; looking up to see her not looking at him had the Squirtle much calmer than if he had caught her staring. Initially, Marie stayed completely still. There were a few new marks to accompany the faint freckling on his face that he was still rather self-conscious about, and it was fairly tempting to want to duck back into his shell with the berry he'd been offered.

But seeing Blue was not a thing that happened particularly often. Actually, now that he was considering the circumstances; what exactly was she doing here? He decided to move again by breaking eye contact and focusing instead on the berry in front of him.

"Squirrr."

Marie wouldn't exactly call it a good afternoon. It was much more like an alright afternoon. Or a whatever afternoon. But Blue was there, and that made it ... decent.

As Blue made herself comfortable, Marie found it a little easier to relax. The tenseness in his posture diminished and he eventually settled into resting his head on one of his arms.

To Blue's question, Marie offered a dissatisfied frown. It certainly wasn't his favorite place. And with most of his team gone now, he was finding it a lot easier to outright dislike it. But Red was here, and being beside his trainer was much more important than wherever he was living.

It wasn't all that horrible, though. So there was a timid shrug that followed. He'd made a friend or two and that was something new and pretty alright. Even if they were gone now...
