[So for whatever reason assume you're wandering around FDC. One of the shopping districts that's stuffed full of old-fashioned stalls and carts with people trying their level best to get you to STOP and BUY right NOW.

Wandering through this wonderland of SHEER AMAZING is a little guy who think's this must be Hyrule Castle Town (because that's where he was supposed to be going even though no one gave him any directions on how to get there)]

[And he's trying to get someone's attention because he really needs to know where to find this Princess the Deku Tree told him to find.]

Skull Kid could pull a prank, or cast a spell, or just straight up stick out a foot and trip him, but you know? He doesn't think he could do any of that right now.

Instead, Skull Kid approaches slowly, reaches over, and taps him on the shoulder.]

[Oh skull kid, this little Kokiri hasn't met you properly yet having just left the forest to start his journey. But he knows he doesn't need to be too afraid of you guys.

[Maria is right in the middle of trying to coax one of her trained doves down from the nearest tree. It flutters down just in time for her to blink over at Link.]

[he locked his arms to his sides and bowed at the waist.]

It's very nice to meet you. I'm looking for the Princess. Do you know how to get to her?

[The kid's voice grabs Link's attention right away. He takes a second to pause and look him over before responding. The blond is dressed in a uniform similar to the Skyloft knight's garb. However... 1, Link can't imagine what business a fellow Skyloftian had in FDC, and 2, Link was fairly sure this kid was too young to be a Knight Academy student. He didn't recognize him, either. Which was definitely saying something, considering the size of his homeland.

The boy reminds him a bit of himself, appearance-wise. But the kid had waited long enough for a response; enough introspection. He leaned down- closer to the other boy's level- and ruffles his hair a little.

[Link pulls away from the man and adjust his hat. He hadn't done anything wrong, why was this stranger attacking his hair like that?]

A princess, poyo? I don't know any princesses, sorry... um, what does she look like?

I don't know. I've never met her. The Great Deku Tree told me I had to find her at the castle so I could help her. Me and Navi are-

[Oh, uh, maybe other people didn't appreciate communicating through physical gestures. Link withdraws from the other boy too, straightening his posture.]

[After all, he'd been calling for someone's attention, hadn't he?]

[The kid eyes the man for a moment. He didn't look like a threat - and if he was, Link could totally take him. Lowering his hands he crossed his arms and gave a nod. Just the one.]

I'm looking for the Princess. Have you seen her?

[Link takes his time with a reply. Princess of what, exactly? FDC? Did... FDC have a princess? After what might have seemed like a long time to consider a question, Link shakes his head. No, no princesses.]

[He put his arms behind his back and rocked on his heels.]

The Deku Tree and the owl said I'd find her in the Castle. Do you know where that is, maybe?

Poyo... Who's Navi? [He doesn't know who the Deku Tree guy is either, but this other person seems more pressing on your mind, Link.]

[Skull Kid can tell by the tone of his voice, and his heart sinks a little. He was well-accustomed to the weirdness that brought people from all different points of time and space, but he had hoped he would get a friend who remembered him at least.]

[Wait. Was this man expecting him? Did that mean he- It had to! His face broke out into the most excited grin.]

[So very helpful. His face fell and he looked down at his feet. After a moment he looked around, as if expecting someone else to show up. When they didn't, he moved over to tug on the edge of the older man's tunic.]

The Princess? [Well Princesses usually are in castles, right? But Dragon Quest some RPG games had really outgoing princesses...
