LET'S DO THIS THING. or not. sob.
[If you decide to venture into the library today, you may or may not spot a psychic bookworm sitting in a table at the furthest end of the room, completely focused on his reading. If that doesn't scream DO NOT DISTURB, then surely the Gallade standing guard next to him should do the trick.
... yeah, we all know this is actually a fancy disguise for PLEASE GO AHEAD AND BOTHER.]

Normally quiet folks are of little interest to her, but the Gallade nearby piques her interest. He's got a type advantage, though, so she's going to just. Stare from a distance. How productive. ]

Still, he could not ignore the subtle change in his Pokemon's behavior, so he lays his book on the table for a minute so he can glance at his unexpected company.]
May we help you?
attempting to tag to brodyquest = bad idea
Okay, who are you kidding, Alecto? You weren't even hiding in the first place, you just SUCK. Now answer the question instead of being a creep. ]
I haven't seen any Gallades in a long time.
[ ... Close enough. ]
you spelled 'awesome' wrong B)
They are quite rare to find in the wild. Your best chance would be to look for trainers in possession of one, should you wish to find any more.
bs my spelling is spectacular (nottalking)
So I've heard. You a trainer, then?
[ why yes, that would be the probable conclusion ]
I say it isn't (troll)
Ah, allow me to properly introduce myself. [Give him a moment to put his book away before he can proceed.] I am Lucian, of the Sinnoh Elite Four.
I say you're a butt (poolparty)
Ah, then you've probably met Lucas. He took the challenge some time back, as I recall.
[ She decides to hold off on stating her relation to the boy. That tended to surprise even the chillest of people. ]
u mad? (code_okok)
Also mun can never pick a protag, so this works.]Would you be a trainer, as well?
you bet

we resent being called Cynthia's leftovers. but it's somewhat accurate. /cough
Or maybe he just hadn't looked hard enough. He did seem far more interested in peeking at the other man's choice of book-- perhaps something to borrow once he was done?]
That's basically what the elites do
shut up, elites are awesome :|
And it is only when he stops to pay close attention that he realizes who that other man was.]
I would not have expected to find you here. [It comes out unceremoniously - and it is not very much like him to interrupt someone's reading, but he didn't particularly hold Cyrus in very high regard.]
no subject
[[The reply is quick, something prepared. He turns a page, demonstrating that Lucian is very low on Cyrus's list of things he gives a damn about.]]
no subject
Lucian, however, did not share her hopeless optimism.]
Is this where the portal brought you? [He asks in the same tone one would casually make a remark about the weather, eyes back on his read.]
(this is where it gets funny because mine's DPverse)
It released me to where it had taken me initially.
haha, I know B)
In the end, he comes to the only possible conclusions: either Cyrus was lying through his teeth, or something was terribly off.]
That doesn't quite match the information I have. [And while that is somewhat unsettling, he's pretty good at making it not show - for as long as he gets to keep reading, at least.]
(so I hear. Found out you're also the Cynthia, hahaha)
Haha, yup, still me. |D Though that reservation was kind of a given

is
... that
Shadow is just... going to kind of observe that Gallade from afar (and by that i mean the table next to them, as he is totally reading a thing). What is this energy radiating from it? He certainly is able to sense it, but it's in no way Chaos Energy!]
no subject
is
that
.... right back at you, man.
Lucian would almost think Shadow was a Pokemon (a Dark type, maybe? He wasn't a specialist, so he wouldn't know for sure) but as far as he was concerned, there were no records of a Pokemon having ever been spotted in a library reading, not even those with very high IQ. So he could probably rule that one out.
Oh, well. Gallade seemed pretty cool with the newcomer, so there was no reason to worry about or interrupt him. If he wanted something, he would talk.
no subject
He wasn't about to just be a dick for no reason, though (yet). Shadow was beginning to get genuinely curious about the stately Pokemon, tall and mighty and proud. What was it supposed to be? It was definitely not just some regular woodland creature.
The only way he would find out fast enough is... well, to ask.]
What are you?
no subject
Alas, Gallade can't speak in the same way humans (and... mutant hedgehog things, apparently) could, but Lucian catches that question instead - with a good amount of surprise, at that.]
This is Gallade, a part Psychic, part Fighting Pokemon. [A pause as he studies Shadow a bit further.] I don't suppose you are one, yourself?
no subject
Oh, yeah, that human. Shadow... really wasn't paying attention to that guy. He hardly even acknowledged his presence. Oops. He turns to the psychic, his usual stoic stare like stone on his features.]
One of them, I see. [He'd read about these guys! Sheesh, there must be so many different species of them...
The guy's remark is immediately off-putting, though. He thinks he's a Pokemon? Really, now? He looks at him with a face that screams 'uh no you are dumb'.]
Of course not. Do I look like a Pokemon to you? [He huffs indignantly.] I am a hedgehog.
no subject
I try not to judge based solely on appearances. [Not that... you look much like a hedgehog, to begin with. But he's going to politely keep it to himself.] I can't say I know every single kind of Pokemon in existence, after all.
no subject
OH WHATEVER. All Lucian gets at first is a scoff. Afterward, he kind of gives Gallade another once-over. Psychic, eh? He didn't really ever deal with telekinetic abilities.]
So you say it's part-psychic. [He stares straight into Gallade's eyes, tail swishing slightly. He's very curious about this thing's power...] What abilities does it have?
['It' because, well. WHAT IS IT GENDER-WISE he can't even tell.]

Comfortable? [He asks out loud, as opposed to trying telepathy. It was fine to do with his own Pokemon, but that was not the case right now.]
