Now, I 'preciate a good joke as much as th' next guy, but I'm wastin' some time, miss. I'm supposed t'be on a train out ta Austin, Texas - and unless it's dramatically changed some, this sure ain't Texas.

That's what this here place is called? That is quite the conundrum.

[He pauses, watching the girl move. Clearly, he is dealing with someone with Scout's level of intelligence, so he smiles and tips his hat to her]

Uh, sure 'preciate the information, miss, but I think I'll keep on lookin' 'round.

[This blonde woman isn't walking around. Normally elusive, she's commandeered one of the empty classrooms and turned it into her personal playground. Bolts, screws, hammers, tools, tools?, scraps of metal and other odds and ends are scattered across the desk.

The bulk of her project appears to look like orange pieces of armor and weaponry. Whatever she's welding working on, looks incredibly advanced.]

[Well, you just went and caught his attention. Raising an eyebrow, he slowly walks over.]

[Assuming she responds, he continues]

I don't mean t'trouble you none, but your handiwork there caught my eye. That sure is an interestin' lookin' project.

[The friendly resident manchild gestures all around him to punctuate his upcoming point.] There are many universal rifts, many that I do not understand... but they will take you across many worlds.

[There's a certain amount of sense to it, especially when one considers matters like teleportation, but...]

Wait jus' a doggone minute, son. Transportin' matter is mighty tricky as it is. But yer tellin' me that they've found a way t'transport people through dimensions? That don't make a lick of sense.

[He rubs his chin, thinking]

Shoot, that was all theoretical when I heard of it, last. With how mass and energy works, that just don't seem possible at all. Where'd you hear this from, son?

Yes, it... did not make much sense to me, as well, and it still does not. The Headmasters have a mysterious way of going about their powers, indeed.

[He mirrors his thoughtful expression, just minus the hand at his chin and plus a tilt of the head, green locks hanging down.]

I did not hear this when I learned of it. Rather... I believe I have experienced it myself!

It was much like regular travel. I hardly realized I had gone through a time warp until I returned here and heard only a few months passed...

[He frowns. It's a little weird, honestly. That is only brief, however, for he brightens up again, not wanting to seem like he wants to be rude to the guy.]

[He thinks for a moment, listening to the boy's explanation. It sounded more or less like teleporting, but even then...]

Son, that there is some definite non-Euclidean examples of physics and matter in motion. I don't suppose there's anyone higher-up like I can speak t' about this?

[He can't say that he doesn't relate. He isn't very quick to trust people, and if he'd been told this before, he isn't sure if he would have believed it. Instead, however, he experienced it, which... well. How can one not believe what has happened?

He raises the tip of his hat a little, nestling it a little better atop his head.]

The Headmasters reside towards the top of the school. They are difficult to reach, but if you are able, they should provide you with insight that I feasibly cannot.

This place...

[He shuts his eyes.] This is Smash Academy. It is meant to be a combat school, which... is not my cup of tea... [He then shakes his head.] ... but I have gained plenty of knowledge from this place, as well as many friends. I enjoy it here.

[N frowns a little, noticing that the man seems a bit distraught. When someone else is upset, it proves contagious for this one. He's not exactly sensitive to sadness, per se, but it is quick to come over him, just mildly so.]

I can assure you that the academy is an enjoyable place to be, regardless. I have made many friends here. [He already said that, but it's something that he thinks bears repeating.]
