Hey guys! Listen, I need some ideas for what to put on the Typhoon. It's going to be a morphing vehicle with a car, boat and plane form! But I'm not sure what colors to make it this time. I've been using blue and red a lot, but other colors seem to work fine as well! Also, I need some new inventions to work on. Some things that would be beneficial to you guys here. Anything that might help, I'd be willing to look into. So let me know!

There's nothing Tails liked to do more than go out and stretch his ~~tails~~ legs after class. After all, he could run pretty fast thanks to working to catch up to something near Sonic's speed. And there was so much to see and do at the school after-hours! But first, a little race ~~with himself~~ around the school. If he came across anyone or saw something interesting, he'd definitely check it out!

[ wow is that really all he's saying? well, frankly, he never did interact with this one in-depth, so he's not about to go out of his way for much conversation. what did sonic say his name was? 'tails'...? ]

Well, he's part of why I came, but he's not the only reason I'm here.

Surely your mechanical experience is another reason.

[ He gives a soft, thoughtful hum, his gaze averting the camera. ]

I wouldn't expect anything as astounding as a transforming vehicle from a kit your age. [ Astounding is being used lightly here, honestly. He's heard of far better inventions. ]

Well, yeah. I could help other people with inventions. I help Sonic with most of them, but others could get use out of them too.

[HEY that's a bit insulting Shadow. But Tails will not let it hamper his optimism. Because he can prove Shadow wrong okay.]

I had already built a transforming biplane that had a walker mode and a car mode. Shouldn't be too much harder to develop a boat mode for this.

[ Fascinating. Maybe he does have more experience than he thought. Here he thought Tails was just working some toy he hardly knew how to handle.

On the same token, however, he had no proof that he did that. He was a close friend of Sonic's, evidently. He could just be spewing talk to show off, much like a certain blue hedgehog... ]

Hmph. I may be interested in watching you experiment. How do you plan to accomplish manufacturing this multi-purpose vehicle? Explain it to me in detail.

[Being alone on his home island gave Tails a lot of time to experiment, tinker, and learn things by himself and with great interest. He doesn't know everything there is to know, however, and so....

It's going to be quite a few prototypes before I can have the whole thing completed though.

[ Throughout the horrendous amount of rambling dealt his way, Shadow's expression slowly goes from deadpan to something far more surprised and interested. How young was Tails again? He only looked to be about, what... 10? Something like that.

At any rate, it is clear that he is very skilled for his age. He could make use of this one, perhaps, should he need an extra mechanical hand. ]

Well. Tails guessed he was going to work on the Typhoon tomorrow at 5? Or something.]

It was one of those days; the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, the scent of grass fluttering in the air as animal and human alike scampered across it...

Such a perfect day for an after-class nap.

X never understood the entirety of his bodily functions, but that didn't mean that he didn't appreciate them; ah, to the contrary. To have his energy return upon lying in sunlight or a recharge bed, or even upon eating energen or organic food, was a blessing in so many ways. How convenient to simply munch on a multi-tiered lunch box for a pick-me-up, or take a short nap, or lie in the sunlight! It beat being plugged in a wall, that was for sure.

In his uniform, X took the time to lie down against a tree, the connector cord out of his right ear and going down, connecting to a converter jack that was connected to...

An iPod ("I can use this to listen to music, rather than uploading all the songs into my own internal memory? That's convenient!")?

It was so warm and comfortable here, and that rock music was really hitting the spot...

Maybe if he fell into a short sleep mode, just for a few minutes...

Running, running, as fast as he could...

Out of the corner of his eye, Tails spotted something blue and shiny under a tree... he had sworn he'd seen someone like that before, but there were so many people in the school that he couldn't fully remember. Well, he had gone a lap or two, so he could take a short break.

He walked right over, and before even getting that close he realized something.

That person had hair, but out of his ear... a connector cord! He was a robot! Oh man, just the thought excited Tails. A robot was here! But... he couldn't be sure this wasn't just another Eggman robot that wanted to kill them.

... Wait, Eggman robots don't lie under trees listening to iPods and sleeping. He needed to give this one a chance before flying into attack mode.

So instead, he opted to watch X for a few minutes. No, this was totally not creepy at all. Humanoid robots fascinate Tails.

Even through the music blasting through his internal speakers, X heard something move close by.

Just a rustle of grass, the pitter-patter of feet as though an animal was scampering about. Or perhaps a Pokemon (ever since meeting Lyra, X had always wanted to meet a wild one, though that seemed to be an uphill battle), opting not to use their human guise.

But even that tiny noise was enough to jolt him out of sleep mode. Leaning back further against the tree, X stretched his arms and legs, easing any pressure or strain in the synthetic muscles.

Heading back to his room was probably a good idea. All he had to do was open his eyes, get up, and then walk over there...

Well, time to complete step one--

--Wait, someone was watching him.

A...fox?

X had started to get used to the humanoid animals wandering about as his classmates, though everytime he saw a new species, it struck a chord of wonder and surprise inside his core. He couldn't help it! He'd never thought he'd see anything like this when he'd first left Abel City!

He blinked his eyes, sitting straighter.

"Oh, uh. Hello."

Tails was never the greatest at stealth anyway. Not that he was trying to be stealthy.

"Oh! I'm sorry, did I jolt you out of sleep?" Well, he didn't actually mean to do that. "I was just watching you for a bit."

He motions to X's ear. "Are you really a robot? I noticed you have something connected to your ear."

Granted it shouldn't have been enough that that made him think that X was a robot. But no human could possibly have something connected to his ear. At least, not that Tails had ever seen. So it had to be a robot. No human would actually trade their parts for robotic parts, right?

X shook his head with a smile.

"Don't worry about it; I probably shouldn't have been sleeping out here, anyway."

Not that X thought anything would have happened, but it was still a better idea to at least fall asleep indoors, in case of a sudden downpour while he was sleeping. He didn't want to get his school supplies or non-waterproof electronics wet, after all.

With another blink of his eyes, X touched his iPod to 'stop' the music from playing, before shutting it off and disconnecting the connecting wire. Holding it between two fingers, he gave it a quick look before glancing back at his companion.

"Yeah, I am. Well, we call ourselves 'Reploids' where I'm from."

Well. Those born from his programming and design called themselves 'Reploids', but as he was the first, he carried on the name and held it to himself just as the others did. Not only did it make things more convenient, but X liked the term.

Aha. This was getting more and more interesting. The moment the word 'Reploid' came up, Tails' eyes lit up. An entire race of humanoid robots existed somewhere! Oh, man! That was just the best thought ever. Even though Tails knew it could be possible, the fact that one was standing right before him was something else entirely! Despite never wanting to make humanoid robots, the entire prospect of them just made Tails' eyes sparkle.

"I've never heard of an entire race of humanoid robots existing before. Though I guess it's always been possible for it to be true. I never thought I'd ever be able to meet one, though! My name's Tails." He stuck his hand out to shake X's. "It's nice to meet you! I'm an inventor where I come from."

Tails wasn't the only one who liked to stretch his legs out and get his blood flowing; Amy came to this place to become an even more respectable fighter, after all, so training and maintaining her perfectly pink condition was to be expected!

Spotting her foxy friend definitely put her in a good mood though, and Amy decides she's feeling up for a race.

"Tails!" she calls out with her usual chirpy sweetness, waving at him as she approaches.

One, two, and... oh, guess the burning lap will have to wait.

"Hey, Amy!" Tails waved back. "I was about to see how fast I could do a lap around the school." He didn't have a stopwatch; he was able to count seconds fairly well. Enough to where he could estimate his time pretty close.

Unlike Amy, Tails wasn't exactly the best fighter when outside of one of his inventions. So his legs were all he could keep training physically, at least so he thought.

Suddenly there was another set of footfalls next to Tails' and they were almost matching his in frequency.

"KNEW you couldn't stay away for long, Tails."

Oh, someone was racing alongside him! But he'd know that voice anywhere.

"'Stay away'? What do you mean, Knuckles?"

"....it's a long story. Space Time Quantum Physics Nerd Continuum... thing. Anyway, the more important question is... When'd you get so slow!?"

VROOM running past you now Tails!

"I'm not that slow!"

And he'll just vroom right along as well, catching back up to him. "I have time if you have it! I definitely don't remember ever being here."
