I'M A FREEEEEE BIIIIRRRRD YEAH!!

[My goodness, what an entirely odd situation. There looks to be a girl with... rather canine additions approaching the gates, wagging her oddly long tail as she walked.

... Wait is the end of that said tail a freaking paintbrush? UH YEAH, yeah it totally is! Why, this isn't a girl at all! I mean it is but you know what I mean It's a pokemon with a horribly poor disguise of a pokemon!

And what's this?? She appears to be...

...

Singing?

Actually that sounds incredibly familiar, almost as if two vehicles could be flying across a cliff to this soundtrack.

Nah. That's just silly.

But she is singing and she is rather elated looking to be standing on this property again. Yehaw. She's completely friendly and despite the fact that she's kinda wearing a spiked collar, she's just shy of five foot and actually uh... she looks about as intimidating as a marshmallow with a toothpick sticking out of it. Oh well.

[Jon was more than used to dog noses approaching his posterior. It's all good pup.]

I'll show you.

[POOMF snap crackle body horror noises aaaaawoooooooo]

There. How's that?

[Get a good whiff, Smee. Werewolf scent is something you never forget.]

Fair enough. That's one of the reasons I refuse to go the traditional way about building my team. I'd feel strange about forcing another sentient creature into my.... possession. If you can call it that. I believe that if a Pokémon is to work with a trainer, it ought to be the Pokémon's choice. And should they wish to leave, that too ought to be their choice.

Aye. It's certainly not a scent found in nature. Well. Generally.

[At her compliment, he smiles, showing off more teeth than might be appropriate.]

I actually very much appreciate hearing that. Being as I was born in a completely different world and only achieved my trainers license at 23, I felt... somewhat on the back foot when it comes to being a trainer being most of the folk in my license exam were ten.
