But now that he was here with no means of getting back to the original world immediately, Axl decides to wander around campus for getting a better idea of what kind of world he's in now.

He's either:

a) Just wandering around the hallways,
b) Find the stadium and its target practice program and is now showing off his gun skills, or
c) Getting distracted by wild Pokemon.]

[Are you messing with him. Shrink? Look, he doesn't remember being taller than he is right now - and right now, his height is already pretty aggravating to deal with.

He probably knew the explanation for why his body was so different, but even still, Zero had to know.]

[He gives a light, casual shrug in response.]

But now that you're more compact, you probably move faster than before, huh?

[If anything, this body was probably a bit weaker than before. He frowned, internally cursing whatever scientist designed this sleeker, smaller form. This was exactly why he didn't trust getting armour upgrades.

With an annoyed huff, he frowned and stated:] Hasn't stopped me, though.

I'll bet. You always were skilled at using bladed weapons. You'd try to cut through everything that stands in your path!

[And probably succeed at it, he adds in his head. Memory loss or not, the mindset this guy had was pretty much the same as the Zero he knew. Axl gives a grin.]

[Something about those words sucked the frustration right out of Zero. It was... actually pretty encouraging to hear that from someone who once knew him. Despite the all the changes, and all the darkness the future held, knowing he was still very much himself at heart was reassuring.

He didn't quite smile like he used to, but his face did soften into a kind of pleased expression, and he seemed to loosen up a bit. The 'thanks' was unspoken, but it was there.]

...So, what're you doing here instead of Hunter HQ?

[Being attentive to detail wasn't Axl's strong points, so the change goes over his head as he jumps right to answering Zero's question.]

That's the thing! I was supposed to start on my first day as fully licensed Maverick Hunter but instead I found myself in this weird world! As far as I know there weren't time-traveling devices being made in my time, so I have no clue how I got here!

This school seems to be a center of some unstable phenomenon... a number of people here have all been plucked from their world without warning.

Probably that's what happened to you.

Has anyone looked into this yet? Do we have any means of getting back to our original worlds? Is there a reason behind people getting thrown into this place?

Well, regardless of the reasons that brought Axl here, there wasn't much they could do about them. For now, the kid just had to adjust - and Zero had to try and remember more about him.]
