Look out FDC, there's a zombie of the loose! Don't mind that she's incredibly adorable and cheerful or anything, really, don't... Chances are she's already tricked and conned you into doing just what she wants! That doesn't stop a select few from already warning the proper authorities.

Can't a girl just appreciate your brain? With some sauce on the side? And a good coffee too!

Knuckles was in the student kitchen.

Knuckles was grabbing coffee and a banana for breakfast.

Knuckles wrinkled his little black nose and snorted. "Ugh. What died in here?" he asked, obviously not having noticed Rotty in the room with him, and obviously having missed the 'Undead and You!' sensitivity webinar available on the School's website to help promote unity with the school's students and faculty who were members of the Formerly Alive Community.

"Hey! Maybe you haven't showered," Rotty shot back grabbing her own coffee.

Sheesh, people in this place were r.u.d.e!

Turning face, she huffed before grinning to herself and taking a sip of her coffee. "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and I reaaaally don't smell." Jerk.

"'Course I didn't shower." Knuckles replied without thinking about it. "Showers are for after traini-Oh."

Blink. Blink.

"...uh. Hi." he said, looking the girl over, entirely unsure what to make of her. She was green. His sensitive nose had picked up on the fact that she wasn't alive - don't feel bad, Rotty, he's sensitive to smells - and it looked like bits of her had been stitched on.

Even in this kind of a place, she sure stood out.

"....'Sup."

"See see! You might be the one who smells!" Cause she didn't smell!

"Meanie. Hmph!" she huffed again and grabbed her coffee.

"You 'sup'."

"Meanie? Hey, I ain't mean. I'm hungry. That's all."

He grabbed that banana and started to peel it.

He almost wanted to tell her that, NO, it was DEFINITELY her, but he thought that might not get him anywhere and was also kind of mean. He wanted to prove her 'meanie' comment wrong, after all.

"You new?"

"Yes I'm new." she stated plainly and she'd sock him if he said that considering she was absolutely sure she didn't smell!

"Are you always a jerk?" she retorted still a bit annoyed and pouty.

"I'm not a jerk!" Knuckles responded, pouring himself a cup of coffee kind of angrily and managing to spill it all over his glove. "I already told you! I'm just hungry! And I have training to do!"

Geeze. Third degree from a cute cadaver this early in the day? Nuh-uh.

"Well I know some nice people and they wouldn't open up on someone they meet for the first time by saying they smell! So you must be the opposite of nice!" she huffed, aggressively drinking her coffee as she tried to keep herself from wanting to just open up his skull and feasting on brains.

"And I don't smell!" she slammed her cup down and sighed. "Then go do your whatever then. Bye." she started to walk away, clearly annoyed.

"Fine! I will! Nice to meet you!" Knuckles replied, slamming down his cup hard enough that it shattered all over the counter and then storming off too.

Before turning around and storming right back.

"Just so you know? I have a very sensitive nose! It's not my fault! Maybe you're the one being a jerk!?"

Y'know. Picking on guys who's noses are too damn good for their own... well... good.

"Maybe YOU SMELL!" she wasn't having this, she was so nice! Why would anyone pick on her?!

"Mean!" And she was off, stomping away.

"I do smell! I smell like an Echidna! Everyone smells of something! And I am NOT MEAN!"

Nope. Look. You're wrong and he's just going to follow you and yell until you understand that he is not mean! Because logic was never his strong suit!

"I'm actually really nice and I've saved the world like seven times! Mean people don't save the world, green lady! They try and ruin it! See how that works!?"

Rotty kept on walking, talk about stranger danger!

"People save the world and don't have to be nice! So your logic goes out the window. If you really were nice you wouldn't have picked on me. Stop trying to justify stuff!" Hmph, the nerve... walk walk walk away.

"Hhhhrrghh!"

This was going... well. Pretty terribly.

The worst part was, he hadn't meant to upset anyone. He just didn't know how to People sometimes. A lot of the ti--most of the time. Pretty much always. All the time. He was terrible at being People.

And it was frustrating. Because he didn't know this person, she'd never done him any harm, and he'd obviously been really crazy offensive. And she was right - justifying it was kind of being childish.

"...I'M SORRY!" he finally managed, still sounding kind of pissed, but meaning it anyway. "Yeah! Sometimes I can be a jerk! I apologize, alright?"

Rotty stopped, giving a moment to take a breath and let out a sigh. "Fine, forgiven... But only because I'm new and I'd hate to start off with enemies... those are never fun."

And besides, he seemed hella stubborn and she got an appology, she'd say that's a victory.

"...yeah. They suck." Knuckles muttered. His anger was dying down a bit and now he was just left with Awkward.

"...uh. Welcome to the school. I'm Knuckles. Been here less than a year myself so... Y'know."

You'd think that him being relatively new he'd know how to treat another newby. Then again, everyone was different in their own right.

"Thanks..." She turned around finally, still looking just a bit put off. "I'm Rottytops, just got here."

"Rottytops, huh? Good to meet you."

Because THERE was a name that didn't suggest anything that might smell off!

"Welcome to the Academy, anyhow. It's easy to find your way around, mostly."

You're looking for an attempt at a whooping Knuckles? Cause she sure as hell will try!

"Thanks, I'm sure I'll get used to it. Wouldn't be the first odd place I end up. I'll be fine."

Oh. Wait.

"...uh. Probably interrupted your breakfast, huh? You wanna go back to the kitchen? I'll make a new pot of coffe. I know how to work the machine, now."

It had taken time and effort to pick up the skills.

She could always get down to coffee, "Sure! Thanks!"

She guessed she could forgive him...

He really was a nice guy, once you got past all the prickles.

"So, where you from, anyhow? You don't... uh... look like any of the Humans I've met before now."

"Oh you know, here, there, everywhere." she mused nonchalantly.

"There's lots of humans too! And pirates and other stuff!"

"Pirates? For real?" he asked. Hey, you recover enough Pirate's treasure without ever meeting a real Pirate, you start getting interested in what they were like.

"Yep! Real sneaky ones too!" And she was trying not to look upset after one of those very sneaky pirates trick her into doing to her friend.

"Wouldn'a figured Pirates for bein' sneaky. What with the boats and flags and all."

Knuckles started setting up to make more coffee - hope you like it strong, Rotty, because he's fitting those grounds in there tight and up to the tippy-tip-top of where they're meant to go.
