Oh man. THERE was a guy Sonny was sure he'd never see again. He thought the Ethics teacher had given them all up as a lost cause long ago.... maybe he was back to pick up something he'd left behind? Or maybe this was a different version of him. Or maybe he'd gone to the store for a bottle of milk and just been sucked out of the timestream for a year or so. (It happened. Sonny could attest to that.)
Whatever it was, the Snorlax couldn't help but say Hi.
A familiar face. That was something at least, though it had both its advantages and drawbacks. "I see you are still here. Tell me, what has passed in this year?"
"In the last year? A lot of things? Probably the main one is that Island up there." Sonny said, pointing up to the huge floating continent in the sky. "That came during the Shadow Bug invasion and even after that died down, it stayed. Apart from that, some new people came and some old people left and it was kind of a quiet year?"
"Voile left." Sonny replied, his mood immediately souring at the memory. "Um. Warren came back. You remember him, right? I think the two are prooooobably connected."
"I didn't see a lot of her for a while." Sonny replied honestly. "She just seemed more quiet, mostly? She talked about doing something at the contest hall for spring but then that never happened and I hardly ever saw her. Then she was just gone."
Cyrus sighed, his head drooping ever so slightly. Unlike before, he didnt attempt to cover his action. "A pity. She showed so much promise, moreso than perhaps anyone here."
After a beat, he continued "Another was Sable. Is she still here?"
"No - Miss Sable left a while ago! Sorry to have to give you so much bad news. I think she went back to her home of Smashville to help her family in their store."
"That much is no loss. She continues her service and ethic." Her work ethic had impressed Cyrus, something he had never expected from the demure hedgehog, but it wasn't something that needed to be nearby.
That was unexpected. "You have the wrong idea. You know my view on the subject of friends--useless bonds that imprison us in our own tiny lives making it impossible to view the big picture. Her work ethic is simply admirable."
Always room for you!
Whatever it was, the Snorlax couldn't help but say Hi.
"Hi, Professor!"
You're so nice
His voice was halting, almost hesitant.

The thought of her was one of the few things that kept him focused over the past year. And she was gone. He visibly gulped.
"Very well. We shall combat that wicked being with all we have."
She was really gone?

It was a sore spot for him.

"So long as she did not leave with him. He controlled her for some time and it would be a shame for her energy to be sapped like that."
