[There seems to be a man just hanging around the campus. A black cap is placed precisely on his head and his matching dark coat occasionally flutters in the wind. His posture is stiff and his gaze is direct and slightly intimidating. Every so often, he pulls out a pocket watch from his coat, checks the time, and returns to his statue-like stance.

[Ingo notices the staring. It's rather uncomfortable; Emmet was usually the one who got all the attention. Ingo straightens but doesn't comment on it. If this stranger has business with him, then he can come over and start a conversation like a normal civilized person.]

[It was Ingo's body language that got Cyrus's attention first. And with eyes on him, the stranger only got more rigid. Suspicious.]

[It seems this man is content with rudely staring. Ingo, however, is not.]

You are intent in your observation. Surely you are unsurprised when another does likewise.

Rather than observing, I'm simply waiting. Though if you want to get technical, I suppose naturally taking in one's new environment could count as "observation."

However, observing one's surroundings and staring at an unknown person are two different things.

And yet one's surroundings, the inanimate parts of nature, cannot express feelings about being stared at. Whereas people can. For example: I would appreciate it if you didn't stare so blatantly. If you wish to know more about me, it would be intuitive to ask questions. Such a thing is called a "conversation."

And might I ask what sort of experiment you were conducting? As a participant, willing or otherwise, I believe I deserve at least some information.
