Board the Battle Subway?

[There seems to be a man just hanging around the campus. A black cap is placed precisely on his head and his matching dark coat occasionally flutters in the wind. His posture is stiff and his gaze is direct and slightly intimidating. Every so often, he pulls out a pocket watch from his coat, checks the time, and returns to his statue-like stance.

[A wild Pokemon? No, this animal didn't look like any Pokemon that Ingo knew of. How strange. Its fur looked awfully soft and fluffy maybe if he just pet it-- No! No, absolutely not. He's already behind schedule, waiting here. He can't afford any distractions.]

My apologies, but I don't have time to play with you.

[No matter how tempting it is.]

[Well, Ammy is the fluffiest, but she wasn't looking to play, she just wanted to know what you were doing, just standing around. It was evidently very busy work!

No matter. She lay down at his side and curled up to nap. Maybe she'd find out what Ingo was waiting for this way.]

[Oh. So this dog isn't going to bother him while he waits. How considerate. That earned Ammy a scratch behind the ears. He crouches down beside her and half-mutters to himself.]

This city seems to be populous and yet their train system is extremely lacking. With such a large school community, you would think they'd maintain their subway better.

[Yaaaay head scratches! There was a pause once Ingo had finished speaking before another voice presented herself.]

Most live here already.

[Ingo freezes, unsure of the voice's location. Finally, he glances down at the dog. It isn't uncommon for Psychic Pokemon to communicate with their trainers through telepathy. Perhaps this animal has similar abilities?]

My apologies. I didn't intend to voice my complaints out-loud. And certainly not before introducing myself. I am the Subway Boss Ingo, it is a pleasure to meet you.

[Goodness, how embarrassing. And even after he said that he was busy. Well, his plans were already running late, no purpose in pretending to be on-time anymore.]

You don't get many visitors from outside the city?

No need to be formal with this one, young man.

[A chuckle.] All of this place's students and faculty come here from other lands. By foot, by air, by disruptions in existence... Everyone's got their ways of getting around.

... Disruptions in... existence? I'm afraid I don't follow you. What do you mean?

A friend of mine used the term "interdimensional portals". I'm afraid I don't quite understand it myself!

[Ingo notices the staring. It's rather uncomfortable; Emmet was usually the one who got all the attention. Ingo straightens but doesn't comment on it. If this stranger has business with him, then he can come over and start a conversation like a normal civilized person.]

[It was Ingo's body language that got Cyrus's attention first. And with eyes on him, the stranger only got more rigid. Suspicious.]

[It seems this man is content with rudely staring. Ingo, however, is not.]

May I help you with something?

[[Cyrus stays where he is, unmoving even an inch.]]

You are intent in your observation. Surely you are unsurprised when another does likewise.

Rather than observing, I'm simply waiting. Though if you want to get technical, I suppose naturally taking in one's new environment could count as "observation."

However, observing one's surroundings and staring at an unknown person are two different things.

You are within the sphere of what would be termed my surroundings. Ergo you are incorrect.

[Wow, really? This guy was kinda weird, even by Ingo's standards.]

And yet one's surroundings, the inanimate parts of nature, cannot express feelings about being stared at. Whereas people can. For example: I would appreciate it if you didn't stare so blatantly. If you wish to know more about me, it would be intuitive to ask questions. Such a thing is called a "conversation."

[Why is there no stand next to and admire option? Because that's what this little girl is doing - oh yes she's a girl, I just have no human icons atm. Rather than being intimidated by such a guy, she actually thinks he looks kinda cool! I mean, come one, he's even got that cool jacket flutter thing going on. Carmine wishes her dress could do that dang.

So Carmine's just standing next to Ingo, occasionally looking up but then glancing back down quickly. Because that is the right thing to do in this situation.]

[Ingo has had his fair share of interaction with children. He isn't as open and friendly like his brother, but he knows a thing or two about how to deal with kids. Especially shy ones.

He gives her a small smile.]

[Oh she's .... not really shy. Just wait until she notices Ingo smiling at her. She brightens immediately.]

[She pauses, then looks back up at him.]

What is a 'subway'??

[She was trying to imitate him? Okay that was kinda really super cute.]

A subway is an underground train system. Most large cities have subways so that people can avoid car traffic on the busy city streets.

I don't know what a lot of those things are. [Trains, subways, cars, and traffic ... ] Except a city! This is a city.

[Oh. Well then. Apparently that was too complicated an explanation for her. Maybe she came from a rural village somewhere?]
